Cardiac Event/Loop Recorder
An Event Recorder is a portable, battery-powered device that is controlled by the patient to record the patient’s heart electrical activity (echo). The purpose of the device is for the patient to record any symptoms or irregular heartbeat after activating.

A Loop Recorder is another handheld device that is controlled by the patient to record your ECG or echo for a programmed period of time (Ex. 5 minutes). The difference here is that this device is able to record before, during, and after a symptom is initially noticed.

The American Heart Association (AHA) provides further valuable information (linked below) in regards to the necessities and functions of the Cardiac Event Recorder.
