Carotid and Renal Stenting

Carotid Stenting: A procedure that involves threading a catheter (long, hollow tube meant to transport a stent) through arteries to access the narrowed Carotid artery (in the neck). The stent (a metal mesh) is relayed through the catheter and into the narrowed area to expand said area and prevent arterial narrowing again.

The Mayo Clinic (linked below) describes exactly what Carotid Stenting is, as well as the reasons for them.

Renal Stenting: Similar to Carotid stenting, the same procedure is done to expand the walls of the Renal artery (large blood vessels that send blood to the kidneys) and mitigate artery stenosis in the region, restoring proper blood flow.

The Cleveland Clinic (linked below) describes exactly what Renal Stenting is, as well as the reasons for them.
